2017-18 Diary Week 30

Another midweek game so I am going to try avoiding making a prediction again and hope we get the same result as the last time!

There are slow starts and there are what we endured in the first ten minutes on Saturday against Hibs.

I stopped for a coffee before going to my seat and got to the top of the stairs and saw the ball hitting the back of the net.

When the second one went in, it seemed like Hibs were exploiting any slight deficiency in our game, but they didn’t account for our new ‘never give up’ attitude.

Ironically at the end most Killie fans, including the gaffer, walked away from the match a bit disappointed we never took all three points.

The statistics from the second half bear that out, with only a couple of outstanding saves keeping us at bay.

It was an exciting match for the telly, hopefully that will entice more punters back to see the mighty in action live.

Weekend preview

This weekend, the u13 Whites are the only one of our youth teams in action as they welcome Wishaw Girls to the Grange on Saturday morning. The youngsters are really starting to gel together now and will be hoping to turn in another good performance.

It’s League Cup weekend for both our u23s and the Seniors.

The 23s travel to face Airdrie hoping to build on last weekends victory against Queen of the South. However, Airdrie will provide tough opposition and this could be a cracker.

SWPL Champions Glasgow City are this weekends opponents for the senior team. They have had a good start to the league campaign, turning in two good performances but this game will certainly be a huge test for the girls as they travel to face an experienced and impressive City team.

Good luck to all teams. #WeAreKillie

Happy Trailer

The football club have kindly donated the use of their advertising trailer to us to give the Trust In Killie initiative a boost.

A huge shout out also to See Saw Creative and Centurion Signs UK who put this together for us "because we're Killie" in no time at all.

We should get a good few months out of it and then we will transfer it back to the club for next term’s season ticket campaign, and then we can swap over again.

Meanwhile we have to try and make the best of the time we have the trailer for, so we are looking to our membership for someone who would be able to take control of the project and get it out and about.

This would involve being old enough to have a driving license with the correct category, for this you would have to have passed your test before 1st January 1997.

You would have to hook it up and take it back and find suitable places to leave it for several hours, and get permission from the relevant land owners - or organise some volunteers that are equally qualified to help you with it!

There will of course be a lot to sort out in terms of vehicles with tow bars, petrol costs, insurance etc. but those are things that we can sort out prior to going on the move, no one will end up out of pocket of course.

If you are interested in helping out, even as one of said volunteers, then please contact KillieFC.com@gmail.com and we will get back in touch with you.

And if you see our person out there…give them a wave!

2017-18 Diary Week 29

No jinx then and we hit the seven wins at home by beating Dundee, not the easy way, but it was a real spectacle for the fans…the referee could have done with some as well.

It’s all about the fighting spirit these days and that showed again at the weekend.

We struggled to make a breakthrough against a dogged Motherwell side, but we never really looked in any danger.

JJ wasn’t having any luck at all but his triple ‘meg had the fans delighted and showed what he is capable of, you can expect to see that going viral.

Likewise, Stephen O’Donnell, they were coming down his side all game and trying to wear him down, then up he pops with his second goal in a week.

He’ll be getting a call up from the new Scotland manager (god bless you Alex McLeish) before we know it.

We are a veritable juggernaut these days, it’s great to be giving other teams the fear.

The Weekend Preview

We almost have a full fixture card across the club as five of our six teams take to field. Here’s what’s happening at Kilmarnock Ladies this weekend: Our u13 Whites are hoping to build on recent good performances as they welcome Gartcairn to St Joseph’s on Saturday morning at 10:30. The Blues are in action for the first time this year as they head to face Motherwell on Saturday. Again this is a 10:30 kick off but this tie is being played at Ravenscraig. The 15s will be looking to build on last weekends positive result as Glasgow City come calling. The game is to be played at Loudoun Academy with a 12:45 kick off. The 23s are kicking off their league campaign after a positive preseason. They travel to Palmerston Park to play Queen of the South at 2pm on Sunday. And finally, the Seniors will be looking to bounce back from a narrow defeat last weekend as they travel to face fellow SWPL newcomers Central Girls. The game kicks off at 4pm at the Indodrill Stadium, Alloa. Good luck girls. #WeAreKillie

2017-18 Diary Week 28

It was our sixth home win in a row as we went to press but I’m not going to jinx us by making any predictions about the Dundee game.

It was great to see Kiltie back and Tishbola get a start on Saturday, but the boss was not making any wholesale changes as he knows how important a cup run is to the club and the fans.

The first half was workmanlike and we took our time to edge in front, but were never in any danger.

We strolled the second half though and the only thing that could have stopped us was running out of change for the electric meter!

There are still many tough matches ahead in the league and cup and the team are going to need our support.

A trip to Aberdeen probably was not the draw we would have preferred but while there is caution there is no longer fear, we have proved we can go toe to toe with anyone.

Trust in Killie Secures initial £100k Target - But we still need your Support!

The Kilmarnock Supporters Society Ltd (The Killie Trust) is delighted to confirm that it has secured the initial £100k investment necessary to achieve a place for a Supporter Director on the board of Kilmarnock Football Club.

The target has been achieved with the support of our regular monthly donors, premium donors, individual donations and a front funder (who wishes to remain anonymous) who approached the Killie Trust a few weeks ago wishing to assist us to make up the balance required. An agreement was reached to enter into an interest free loan and this has been formalised in line with the rules and regulations of the Kilmarnock Supporters Society Ltd.

Chairman Jim Thomson said, "This is a fantastic achievement by the supporters. To raise £100k within 9 months is a testament to their support of this great club. The front funding agreement is money that must be repaid and therefore it is essential that fans maintain their subscriptions or sign up to Trust in Killie. Trust in Killie is not a one-off campaign to achieve a Supporter Director but is to be an ongoing revenue stream for the Club for years to come. This is really just the beginning and, moving forward, Trust in Killie NEEDS as many subscribers and donors as possible."

Jim added, "We have informed the Directors of Kilmarnock Football Club that we have reached the initial target. We are now looking forward to working with the Football Club over the next few weeks and playing our part in many of the very positive changes that have been taking place recently. We would also like to place on record our thanks to the front funder who came forward. Without their support and the ongoing contributions of our regular and one off donors a Supporter Director would not have been achievable at this point."

The Trust will provide further updates as matters progress.

2017-18 Diary Week 27

Beating Celtic wasn’t really the best part of the weekend, feeling we thoroughly deserved it and not being surprised probably was.

The lack of fear from the players and the support at the moment is something we have not experienced for a while, it’s a crying shame not more fans were there to see it in person.

Hopefully the longer Steve Clarke stays the more will come back, although the media seem to hate how successful we are and are trying to wish him into the Scotland job…whilst never once mentioning Brendan Rogers, who has done not bad for himself either.

It is difficult to single any players out from Saturday but kudos to Mulumbu for upstaging Broon, brilliant cross for the goal from Jones…and the work rate of Mackenzie and Brophy was outstanding.

On and off the park things are looking up, the Trust’s TIK Initiative reached its first £100k target already, great work…these are the times you heard about, it’s good to be a Killie.
